Chibog of Daly City, CA
The dishes I tried at this restaurant are: Pork Sizzling Sisig, Kare-Kare (classic version), Laing, BBQ Chicken, and Garlic Rice
Pork Sizzling Sisig which includes pork sauteed in a special sauce, spices, onions, and jalapenos

The finely chopped pork pieces had a good ratio of meat, fat, and skin and what tasted like cartilage. The flavor was great – a little bit salty, but mostly sour. The texture had a wonderful combination of tenderness from the pork, chewiness from the cartilage, and softness from the fat. This dish definitely makes me crave for more with each bite!
Rating: 5/5 Texture and taste makes this dish super addicting!
Kare-Kare Classic which comes with oxtail, tripe, and veggies in a peanut sauce

I love the veggies and the sauce in this dish. Mild peanut flavor and some coconut as well. Oxtail was tender, though a bit on the bland side and not seasoned. You can eat it with the sauce that comes with this dish for more flavor. Tripe is a bit gamey for me so it was not my favorite. Would like it if they added more veggies in the dish. Though you can add extra veggies for $1.50 more, I didn’t think this dish was worth the price since the oxtail was bland and the tripe was a bit gamey for me. However, if you like oxtails and aren’t turned off by gamey taste, then this dish is worth a try since it seems to be very popular with the locals.
Rating: 3/5 I personally didn’t like that I have to add sauce to enhance the flavor. I prefer my meat and veggies to be well seasoned in the broth as it comes out. Have said that, this is a Filipino staple dish so even though it’s average for me I can respect the way it’s meant to be eaten and appreciate this dish as a labor of love.
Laing, which is taro leaves cook in coconut milk with minced pork

The taro leaves tasted very earthy, slightly bitter and is balanced out with the sweetness of the coconut milk. I didn’t notice any minced pork at all and thought this was a vegetarian dish! This is a great compliment to other meat dishes served here.
Rating: 4/5 Just don’t expect any minced pork! The earthy taste of the taro leaves and the sweetness of the coconut milk makes this dish a special combination of bitter and sweet. Knocking down a point because I’m not into the slightly bitter taste, but if you do, then this dish can easily be a 5/5.
BBQ Chicken

The chicken had a sweet marinade to it, and was nicely grilled and tender. The downside is that it lacks the smokey barbecue flavor. Overall, this is one of the best dishes here, but I would call this dish grilled chicken instead because the barbecue flavor did not stand out.
Rating: 4/5 Great chicken and would definitely get this again. Only knocking it down one point because Fil-Am does it best with their BBQ chicken skewers!
Garlic Rice

The consistency of the rice was a bit dry and reminded me of day-old rice. Garlic flavor was mild and perfectly balanced in the rice.
Rating: 3/5. Since other dishes were well seasoned and packed with strong flavor, I couldn’t really taste the garlic in the rice when I ate it with other dishes. Next time, I would save myself a dollar and go with the steamed white rice.
Overall, I would definitely will return to this restaurant. This place is comforting, great for families, and the food is wholesome and packed with strong flavors.
